The 6th Annual Phoenixville Bed Races drew a large crowd of spectators who cheered on teams as they competed for the title of the “Fastest Bed” while raising both funds and awareness for two local organizations that provide assistance for the homeless, according to a staff report for The Pottstown Mercury

Teams constructed and decorated their racing beds and had lots of fun as they raced down Third Avenue toward the Third Avenue and Starr Street intersection. Then they had to turn around to get to the finish line by racing the beds back up Third Avenue. In addition to the Fastest Bed, titles of the Best Team Theme and the Most Funds raised were also awarded.

Teams that competed included the Holy Ghost Pierogi Pinchers, Team Ann’s Heart, Good Samaritan Services, F3 Philly, Iron Cross Athletics, Phoenix Fed Bank Bed Racers, and Brotherly Shove.

And the races were far from the only entertainment during the popular event. Visitors could also enjoy and partake in various kids’ activities, music, raffles, and food vendors.
