When Josh Kaplan and his family headed out to Los Angeles on vacation, they never expected Josh to end up as a “Price Is Right” contestant, writes Max Bennett for Patch.

But after they got tickets to a taping of the show, Kaplan, a lover of games shows, got called down to Contestant’s Row.

“I used to pretend I was sick to stay home and watch all the game shows,” he said.

The trip to Contestant’s Row was a blur, he said.

Kapan made it to the stage and, as a contestant, made it all the way to the Big Wheel.

The ‘Price Is Right’ contestant described the experience as sensory overload.

In fact, the audience was so loud it was hard to hear the product descriptions, and cameras sometimes blocked views of the products.

He also didn’t account for product prices being based on West Coast economics.

“It’s definitely different there than on the couch,” he said. “It’s not easy to navigate when you’re on stage or even in contestants row. You kind of have to go off instinct.”
