If there were a water ice capital in the United States, it would be Delaware County.

Fans of the frozen dessert will find no less than six spots for some summer refreshment, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

Pop’s Homemade in Havertown started with a South Philly pushcart in 1932 before setting up in Havertown. Owner Greg Collins is always working on new flavors, including his newest, espresso, but the traditional flavors are here, too.

George’s Water Ice in Upper Darby offers an inexpensive unique creamy blend of homemade water ice. Try the classic mango flavor.

The Sugaree in Newtown Square and Wayne turns out some unique water ice flavors like root beer and watermelon.

Barone’s Water Ice and Ice Cream in Drexel Hill is a quaint little parlor in a strip mall. You’ll find the tastiest sweet treats here, including a classic favorite—the mango cherry twist gelati.

Vera’s Water Ice in Springfield has been around for 30 years and has special flavors like pina colada, banana ripple, and butter pecan. 

Capri in Wayne has new water ice creations like cookies ‘n cream, strawberry cheesecake, banana chocolate chip, and caramel cappuccino, 22 flavors in all.
