This summer’s unique ice cream shop offerings feature customizable frozen treats, writes Victoria Alfred-Levow for Main Line Today.

Here in Delaware County, there are three recommended places and two others nearby to indulge your sweet tooth.

Koffmeyer’s Old Fashioned Cookies and Ice Cream at 7 Brookline Blvd. in Havertown focuses on cookies and bars, but you’ll find unique ice cream here, too, made in nearby Schuylkill County.

Try Monkey Bones or Milky Way.

Pops Homemade Water Ice at 150 W. Eagle Road in Havertown is known for its homemade water ice, but that’s only part of the frozen options available at this South Philly-based shop.

There’s soft and hard ice cream along with brand-new “build-your-own sundaes”.

The Sugartree at 3117 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square has local flavors, water ice, and bulk candy.

They also offer a build-your-own sundae.

Check out their wide selection of specialty milkshakes.

Nearby, at 1039 W. Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr, stop by the Surreal Creamery. You’ll find their signature mason jar options here, or just take it in a cone

For custom flavors, visit 1-900-ICE-CREAM at 18 Lancaster Ave., Ardmore, where there are three to six new flavors weekly homemade at a factory in Kensington.
