The Firebirds restaurant chain, which has a restaurant in Chadds Ford, has been bought by the same New York investment firm that owns the P.J. Whelihan’s restaurant chain, writes Elise Franco and Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Garnet Station Partners, the investors overseeing the PJW Restaurant Group, announced Monday they have added Firebirds Wood Fired Grill to its $2 billion asset portfolio.

Firebirds has five locations in the region, including Chadds Ford. Other locations are in Collegeville, North Wales, Moorestown, and Newark, Delaware.

The restaurant offers hand-cut steaks, seafood, and other signature dishes for lunch and dinner.

It was launched in 2000 by Charlotte restaurateur Dennis Thompson.  There are now 56 restaurants in 20 states.

“Firebirds has found tremendous success over the past 20 years through the power of its concept, the passion of its team, and the loyalty of its guests, contributing to its consistent industry outperformance from both an average unit volume and same-store traffic perspective”, said Matt Perelman, co-founder and managing partner at Garnett Station.

Firebirds CEO Steve Kislow said Firebirds has become a “neighborhood staple” in each of the local communities where it operates.
