Filmmakers local and beyond are showcasing their creative works at the three-day Media Film Festival which started Thursday, March 30, and runs through Saturday, writes Stephen Silver for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The festival in Media Borough started 16 years ago in 2008. This year, 40 short films will be shown at the Media Theatre for the Performing Arts at 104 E. State Street.

Fright Fest on March 31 highlights films in the horror genre.

Local films include “Solidarity” from Mark L. Mazzeo, a comedy/drama about a group of office workers.

S.J. Doss offers a horror short “Dear  Mirror,” and Joe Ronca gives us “One Last Glance,” partly set in a Christmas tree lot in Broomall.

Other local films are “Inner City High-Ball, about the culture of graffiti on train cars from Matthew Paul Harrison; Jordan Anstatt’s “Nobody Skates But Me,” set in a skate park; and Val McAdoo’s “I see You,” about a woman who “sees the beauty and potential in discarded items … and in discarded people.”

This year’s entries also include films from around the world, including three from Iran.

“We get a lot of Iranian submissions,” said Tamme McClelland, festival program director. “Their filmmaking is really incredible”.
