It’s been a good run for Swarthmore College women’s basketball and for one of its outstanding players, Dana Bandurick, writes J.F. Pirro for Main Line Today.

Bandurick is a premed student majoring in neuroscience and minoring in Spanish at Swarthmore.

The 6-foot senior, nicknamed “Shot Doctor”, was named Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year as a freshman. She started this season as one of three returning All-Centennial First Team players in the league.

The women’s squad had its first winning season since 2013-14 under new coach Dawn Grant and the team finished 14-11 last year.

Bandurick’s nickname comes from a newspaper headline and it’s not how Bandurick refers to herself.

Her focus is on the team culture.

“We have players excited about the season, so we’re playing smarter and more together. That’s a big change,” she said.

When asked if she has anything to do with the team’s success she again looks to the team.

“A lot of people say that, but it’s definitely not all on me. I have great teammates and a coaching staff that I’m now excited to work with.”

She said she has changed her attitude, playing more purposefully and aggressively, putting it all on the floor.
