The Delco River Rink, Delaware County’s pop-up outdoor ice skating rink, opens Thursday, Dec. 1 at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack, 777 Harrah’s Blvd. in Chester.

The Flight on Ice rink will be open to the public through Feb. 26, 2023.

Presented by Visit Delco and Harrah’s Philadelphia, the rink was officially dedicated Tuesday, with a ribbon cutting attended by members of Delaware County Council, Flight Entertainment, Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack, and local elected officials and their families.

The 60-foot by 100-foot Delco River Rink is located at Harrah’s main valet entrance. It joins a second Delaware County rink at Energy Transfer Veterans Memorial Rink in Newtown Square.

It is the sixth pop up rink opened by Flight on Ice in 2022.

“Building and operating outdoor ice-skating rinks is a huge undertaking for us but working with like-minded partners with similar vision from the County motivated us to bring our concept to Chester this year,” said Jon Schaffer, president of Flight Entertainment.

Flight on Ice will be looking at the site this season to determine if the ice rink should become a year-round permanent fixture at Harrah’s with a possibility of adding a roller rink as well, Schaffer said.

About the Rink

The rink is covered by a pavilion roof. There is free on-site parking, skate rentals, music, lighting, video, food and beverages, heated indoor spaces for private and corporate events, and several family-friendly themed events.

Single general admission tickets to skate are $5, with $10 skate rentals plus taxes & fees for the entire season.

The rink will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 8 PM, Saturday 11 AM to 8 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM, with expanded holiday hours.

Weekly events include:

  • Thank You Thursdays Community Day for all Chester residents with a buy-one-get-one half off skate special,
  • Skating Under the Stars on Fridays with a discount on 2-packs — perfect for a couple’s night out or Dad-Daughter skate.
  • Sunday Family Fundays will feature a special discounted 4-pack ticket bundle, including complimentary offerings, activities and themes that will enhance your overall family experience.

Although tickets and rentals are available at the box office, Flight on Ice recommends reserving your sessions online in advance, especially during peak holiday hours to ensure getting on the ice in a timely manner.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own skates to save on rental fees and skate sharpening services are provided at all locations.
