World Series Good for Business at Local Bars and Restaurants

Tom and Jerry’s co-owner Nerissa Burns shows her support for the Philllies

Bars and restaurants that felt the severe sting of the pandemic are grateful for the Phillies’ run in the World Series, and the overflowing crowds it’s bringing in, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.

Dan Brown, manager of the Grid Iron Pub in Upper Chichester, said the Phillies have boosted his business both in drinks and bar food.

“The customers have been very excited,” Brown said. “Pretty much every game with the Phillies and the Eagles they’ve been decent fun crowds.”

Crews were ready for the busy weekend at Tom and Jerry’s Sports Bar in Ridley between the Phillies games running on nearly 30 televisions and a lineup of live bands.

“We’re going to be a multi-entertainment complex,” said co-owner Nerissa Burns. “In our outside bar, we’ll have the game with surround sound. Believe it or not, you don’t hear the bands out there.”

Burns agreed Red October has been great for business.

Brett Sizemore, manager of Barnaby’s in Haverford Township said the company’s three locations in Haverford, Aston and West Chester have been packed every night the Phillies have been playing, with fans “through the roof.”
