Villanova Girl Recalls ‘Nutcracker’ Ballet Experience
Radnor High School junior Lauren Meyer performed in five shows of “The Nutcracker” ballet recently alongside professionals from the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet Society, reports the CBS 3 staff for CBS 3.
The ballet company has put on the show annually for over 30 years.
Meyer, 16, of Villanova, danced at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center in five shows Nov. 18 to 20, starring as Marie Stahlbaum.
“As a dancer, I love the show because it’s so exciting every single year just to find out the cast list and be able to perform for everyone,” she said.
“A lot of people of different ages from toddlers to adults, they all very much enjoy the show and they keep coming back, and it really becomes a tradition for everyone,” Meyer said.
Meyer started in ballet at age 8, encouraged by her mom, and fell in love with it.
Working with the professional dancers has been “absolutely surreal” for Lauren.
“They are the people who inspire me every single day. You can see their artistry, their individuality in their expression and it’s absolutely just to watch them, let alone dance with them.”
