For all things Christmas, shoppers can visit the Den of Antiquity and Christmas Shop in Glen Mills, writes Peg DeGrass for the Daily Times.

Santas, elves, ornaments, manger set pieces, nutcrackers, snowmen and more fill the shelves of this store owned by Elmer “Chip” Miller III and his sister, Cardinal O’Hara graduate Joanne Hartley.

The 90-year-old antiques store at Rt. 352 and Gradyville Road has hosted The Christmas Shop for 45 years.

“This holiday season, especially going through the uncertain times of this pandemic, it seems that people are more into memories and sentimental throwbacks to their past than ever before,” Miller said.

There’s a red mailbox outside for children to mail letters to Santa.

“A little girl came into our shop with her grandparents. She thought our Christmas room upstairs was Santa’s workshop because it looked so magical to her. She came back for a return visit with her parents, and put a letter to Santa in a sleigh upstairs.”

So the mailbox is a community service to Santa, Miller said.

The Den of Antiquity was once a general store and trucking company and remains a landmark for travelers between Delaware and Chester counties.
