Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is inviting people to bid on a concession lease for Hidden Valley Farm, a horse farm located on the grounds of Ridley Creek State Park, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.

The farm is across from the park mansion off Sandy Flash Drive at the 2600-acre park.

Hidden Valley Farm has been run by owner/managers Ellie and Tom Chidester at the current location since 1999, according to the farm’s Facebook page.

Over the years, the farm has offered horseback rides in the park. The lease would include a historic blacksmith shop and barn, a modern indoor riding arena, a lighted outdoor arena and 27 acres of pasture.

The DCNR will be charging $5,200 a month in rent for a 10-year lease and has issued an invitation to all equestrian disciplines to bid on the lease.

The 10-year lease could be extended to 35 years if large capital improvements are made to the property, said Wesley Robinson, spokesperson for the DCNR.

Bids will be opened Nov. 14 at noon.

There are currently 150 1concession lease agreements in the state parks covering refreshments, watercraft rentals, bicycle rentals, restaurants, golf courses, and whitewater rafting.
