Aqua Pennsylvania has announced that $2.9 million in main replacement projects are underway in Media Borough and Marple Township. This investment is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to improve reliability for customers throughout Delaware County.

In Media Borough, crews are working to replace 5,778 feet of aging 4-, 6-and 8-inch water mains with new 4-, 6-and 8-inch ductile iron water mains. The $1.6 million project is taking place on the following streets:

  • Front Street between West Street and Providence Road
  • East 2nd Street between North Jackson and North Monroe streets
  • Manchester Avenue between East Baltimore Avenue and East Front Street

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed by February 2023. Final road restoration is expected to be completed by spring 2023, weather permitting.

Crews in Marple Township are working to replace 1,215 feet of aging 8-and 16-inch water mains with new 6-, 8-, 16-and 24-inch ductile iron water mains. The $1.3 million project is taking place on West Springfield Road between Eagle and Old Sproul roads.

Aqua’s main replacement projects are expected to be completed by December 2022. Final road restoration is expected to be completed by spring 2023, weather permitting.

The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area.
