Aqua Pennsylvania has announced that $7.1 million in infrastructure improvement projects are underway in Haverford Township to improve service reliability for customers throughout the Main Line.

Crews are working on a $4.6 million project to replace 10,311 feet of aging six-, eight-, 12-, and 16-inch cast iron water mains with new ductile iron water mains of the same size on the following streets:

  • West Chester Pike between Lawrence and Manoa roads
  • Manoa Road between West Chester Pike and Shelbourne Road

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed by August, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in the fall.

Crews are also working to replace 4,470 feet of aging 16-inch water mains with new 16-inch ductile iron water mains on Manoa Road between Allston and Old Manoa roads. The $1.6 million project is expected to be completed by July, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in September.

Crews have also been working on a $931,000 project to replace 3,696 feet of aging six-inch water mains with new six-and eight-inch ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Mapleshade Road between Ardmore Avenue and Malvern Road
  • Hazelwood Avenue between Haverford and Mapleshade roads
  • Malvern Road between Haverford Road and Belmont Avenue
  • Georges Lane between Haverford and Morris roads

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed by August, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in October.

The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area.
