2 Delaware County Businesses Named Top 100 Places to Work in U.S. by Fortune Magazine
Two Delaware County businesses made Fortune Magazine’s 2021 top 100 Places to Work in the US, despite disruptions from the pandemic, writes Michael Tanenbaum for phillyvoice.com.
Newtown Township-based IT company, SAP America, moved up to No. 29, moving up 30 spots from last year’s ranking of No. 59.
To counter the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, SAP lowered the thresholds for those eligible for bonuses and kept using hourly and contract employees even if their projects were disrupted.
SAP US also had on-demand mental health resources.
In June, SAP created an action plan supporting equality organizations. It also assisted Black-owned businesses.
Power Home Remodeling, based in Chester, stayed on the Fortune list but dropped to 70 in 2021 from 50 last year.
The company was praised by its employees for its handling of COVID-19.
Power Home kept paying employees until the first stimulus package was passed, then furloughed staff so they could make more money on enhanced unemployment.
It then brought 100% of its employees back to work.
Management’s handling of the pandemic “shows what a great place to work this is,” writes an employee.
