The new Head of School for Haverford School, Tyler Casertano, is a lifetime educator, minus the one year he took off to go work at Wall Street, writes Michael Bradley for Main Line Today.

Casertano is the son of educators and grew up on two different prep school campuses.

He initially opted for finance as a career but after a year on Wall Street, returned to his roots in education.

He was hired as a teacher and coach at St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. in 2009 and rose to become St. Alban’s assistant head of school for advancement and strategy by 2019.

He started as Haverford’s Head of School this fall, the 10th person to fill that position.

He starts at a time when a middle school on campus is relatively new. The school debuted in 2020.

The school also took over a $20 million 43-acre property in Radnor.

Casertano, 36, will lead a $40 million operation with 150 employees.  He’ll also be teaching history to ninth-graders.

Casertano’s hire is part of the board of trustees’ goal to make Haverford “the best boys’ day school in the country,” a school where every student benefits from individual growth, says board chair, Maurice Glavin.
