It’s always burger season and three food and restaurant columnists from The Philadelphia Inquirer have come up with the 17 best places to get burgers in the region.

One Delaware County spot continues to make their list.

Regional knowledge and local experts were used to draw up the list, emphasizing geographic and cultural diversity, writes Jillian Wilson, Craig LaBan and Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer. 

Charlie’s Hamburgers at 237 E. MacDade Blvd. in Folsom remains a Delaware County throwback to the slider that dates back to 1935.

Burgers are priced between $3 and $7. The beauty of Charlie’s is the insistence on remaining traditional. You won’t find a truffle-topped or crab-topped burger in sight.

What you get is old school—greasy, beefy patties stacked in griddle-crisped buns.

Even its move in 2019 from Kedron Avenue, where it served customers for 30 years, did not alter the menu much.

Charlie’s also has hot dogs, hot sausage, grilled cheese sandwiches and milkshakes and offers three specials—the Bunny special with cheese, raw onion, mustard and tomato; Charlie’s special with cheese, fried onions, tomato and pickles; and Peg special,  a double cheeseburger with fried onions and bacon.
