Sunflower farms are the ideal places to snap perfect family photos and enjoy a beautiful day while frolicking among the gorgeous flowers, writes Laura Swartz for the Philadelphia Magazine.

Philadelphia region is home to seven such farms, and one of them is just a short drive away right here in Delaware County.

Linvilla Orchards in Media offers eight different varieties of sunflowers spread across the fields. The farm offers hayrides to the sunflower-laden fields where you can pick your own bouquet of five.

The farm also boasts a great on-site market along with a playground and barnyard. In addition, you can pick-your-own peppers, peaches, grapes, corn, zinnias, and much more.

And as an added bonus, fishing at Orchard Lake is also currently open.

The farm is located at 137 West Knowlton Road and is open daily through mid-September, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hayrides tickets cost $9 if purchased online or $10 for walk-ups. Babies under 12 months are free. Five stems of sunflowers cost $9.

Linvilla Orchards has been a favorite fall destination for Delaware County families for years. The Daily Meal lplaced Linvilla on a list of the nation’s 50 best apple orchards.
