Delaware County Consolidates Departments with Media Building Buy
Delaware County Council has approved purchasing the Flagship Corporate Center in Media for $15.4 million to house the county’s planning and housing department, the commerce center, and possibly VisitDelco, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.
The building, close to the county courthouse and government center, is the Flagship Corporate Center for J&T Building Co. LP. The sale will be completed by the end of September.
“We’ve got people who are pretty spread out across distances across the county and to have folks in a very easily walkable location is a great benefit,” said County Councilman Kevin Madden.
County Solicitor William Martin said the purchase of the Flagship Corporate Center includes retail space for Main Line Health and a medical practice, offices and parking.
The retail rent, currently $550,000 per year, will go to the county once the purchase is completed, offsetting the purchase price.
The county also saves $250,000 annually for every 10,000 square feet it is now paying in rent.
There will be 30,000 square feet of office space for county use. There are also 92 parking spaces, 50 available to county employees and visitors, with the rest for the retail tenants.
