Lidl US will have a grand opening for its new store on Wednesday, June 22, in Clifton Heights at the site of the former Kmart store off Baltimore Pike.

The grand opening at 713 E. Baltimore Ave. will include a ribbon-cutting at 7:40 a.m. from local leaders.

The first 100 customers in line before the ribbon-cutting will receive a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100. Shoppers can enter to win a $500 Lidl gift card, sample Lidl’s award-winning assortment and take advantage of special giveaways.

During grand opening weekend, Wednesday to Sunday, Lidle will donate $1 to Philabundance for every new myLidl member who signs up and lists Clifton Heights as their home store.

The store will be open daily 8 a.m.to 9 p.m.

This will be Lidl’s 13th store in Pennsylvania and its second in Delaware County, following a store in Folsom.

The opening will generate more than 35 local jobs, with starting pay at $17 an hour, plus benefits. Lidl offers healthcare to all full-time and part-time employees.

Lidl operates around 11,550 stores and is active in 32 countries, employing more than 341,000 employees globally.
