Raisa and Illya Zayarchenko live in Folsom, but they’ve traveled the world visiting the small cafes that dot the streets of European towns. Now they’ve brought that experience home at the Ardour Bakery and Coffee at 119 E. Sellers Ave., writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

“We’ve always had a dream to own our own coffee shop in a small town, where people could come and chill and enjoy some relaxing time together with quality coffee and freshly baked pastries,” Raisa said.

Their café has the fresh coffee, but you’ll also find fresh croissants, muffins, cookies, puff pastries, macarons, tarts, strawberry shortcakes and more.

There’s heartier breakfast and lunch sandwiches and other bistro offerings available.

Raisa and Illya, married for 17 years, are natives of Ukraine. Their son Michael, a Ridley High School freshman, works part-time at the bakery.

Illya is a 2002 alum of Ridley. He works as a steel boiler technician at Power House Equipment Company in New Jersey.

Raisa is a business analyst at WSFS headquarters in Wilmington. She graduated high school in Ukraine, moving here with her family in 1997.
