All Kids Are Welcome at Rose Tree Park’s New Destination Playground
A destination playground, landscaping and storm water management are planned for Rose Tree Park in Media, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.
The new playground will have paved pathways connecting to the parking lot, the amphitheater and veterans memorial.
Residents at a recent open house also asked for more shading and fencing.
The playground has a large climbing tower for children ages 5 to 12. There will be a swing zone, a spinning zone and an area for children 2-5 years of age.
“This is a substantial destination playground,” said Council person Elaine Paul Schaefer. “ It’s pretty impressive. There are a few in the region of this magnitude.
“We’re trying to make this one inclusive as well for children of all abilities.”
The $2 million project will be built by Kompan Inc. with construction slated to begin in 2022.
Rose Tree is one of three park upgrades. The others are Little Flower Manor in Darby and Upland Park in Upland.
Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources funds and federal money from the American Rescue Relief Plan are helping to pay for the upgrades.
