Two friends, both from the Radnor area, have opened a new Ayurvedic herb restaurant in Philadelphia that emphasizes organic dishes, wellness and personalized menus, writes Gabby DeBenedictis for patch.com.

Syam Namballa and Mahi Reddy opened Ancient Spirits and Grille Sept. 17 at 1726 Chestnut Street .

The three-story five dining-room, two-bar restaurant is described as America’s first “Ayurvedic herbal restaurant and cocktail bar.”

A 50-foot green-style wall wraps from the first to the third floor and has its own private table and mini dining room resting 15 feet of the ground.

It’s contemporary European cuisine inspired by Ayurveda, a 5,000-year-old practice that restores and maintains harmony between the body and mind.

There are organic herbal cocktails and mocktails, 50 varieties of organic and biodynamic wines, 24 beers and signature house cocktails.

Customers can use an app to enter “confidential and easy information” about their body type. Food and drink will be tailored to the metabolism of the customer.

Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available.

“Namballa and Reddy combine their decades of experience in the tech, travel and restaurant sectors for this unique restaurant retreat that blends together wellness, lavishness and modern technology,” states a press release.
