Regular customers to the Giant store on W. Township Line Road in Havertown can expect some cosmetic changes and upgrades to the store, writes Max Bennett for patch.com.

Remodeling is underway. It includes new store-wide décor and an expanded farm fresh produce department.

The store will introduce a designated plant-based product area, a new meat and seafood department and an enhanced prepared food section.

A consultation room will be added to the pharmacy to administer vaccines and speak to the pharmacist in a more private setting.

The store is also expanding its easy curbside pick-up for online customers.

Work should be finished by early fall. The store is open during renovations.

“From updating our current departments to offering more product variety and expanding easy curbside grocery pick-up, this remodel is focused on simplifying shopping for busy Havertown families” said Kevin O’Hara, GIANT store manager.

The Giant Company was started in 1923 when David Javitch opened Carlisle Meat Market in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In 1936, Javitch bought a store in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, naming it the Giant Shopping Food Center.

Today, the company has over 170 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
