“60 Minutes” Journalist Bill Whitaker Visits Media, Receives Thanks

“60 Minutes” Journalist Bill Whitaker stopped by Media Borough’s Dining Under the Stars this week to receive thanks for remembering his hometown and the Media Fellowship House, writes  Susan L. Serbin for the Daily Times.

Whitaker was a guest host on “Jeopardy” and named the Media Fellowship House as his charity of choice.

The guest hosts were invited to choose an organization that would receive funds matching the contestants’ winnings.

“I was scouring my brain, thinking of a charity, and I came up with two: Media Fellowship House and Harlem Grown,” he said.

Media Fellowship House is a social organization co-founded and inspired 75 years ago by his mother, Marie, who was a victim of racial discrimination at a Media restaurant.

“Fellowship House has been a force in the community for decades with programs including education, housing and scholarships. The infusion of cash will help secure all of these to go on,” he said.

Media Fellowship House took in $257,998.
