Dave Fairman is joining the Media Business Authority as its new Executive Director.

The lifelong resident of Delaware County is a successful entrepreneur, small business advocate and a seasoned community leader. 

He begins his tenure March 1.

Fairman has spent most of his professional career in Chester County. He opened Fairman’s Skate, Snow & Surf Shop more than 20 years ago in downtown West Chester.

The business is recognized as one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s long-running retailers in the board sports industry.

He volunteered with several of West Chester’s active downtown committees for several years before joining the staff of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce in 2012.

While there, he recruited more than 200 new members to the organization. He played an integral role in the success of the West Chester’s annual Christmas Parade, Cycling Classic and Gallery Walks.

Fairman was also Executive Director of the Chamber’s Education Foundation.

He is looking forward to working with Media’s stakeholders, building on a solid foundation established by the Media Business Authority.

 “I’ll encourage continued collaboration between businesses and community organizations to promote Media as a great place to live, work, shop and dine,” he said.

Another important goal will be to enhance the MBA’s existing programs, services, and events, he said.

“Everybody’s Hometown already has a lot to offer, but I’m certainly aware of the extraordinary challenges created by the pandemic,” Fairman said. “The merchants should know that I’m here to listen, share ideas, provide support and be a partner in their endeavors.”

Media Borough Council President Brian Hall is excited to see Fairman joining the Authority.

The mission of the Media Business Authority is to encourage economic growth, cultivate a positive visual environment, and sustain and nurture business development in the Borough of Media.

It has helped increase Media’s business patronage with events like Dining Under the Stars and the America’s Music Festival Series.
