Chris T. Jelepis, an 89-year-old educator and school administrator who for a time was a school superintendent in Chichester, died June 22, writes Rita Giordano for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Mr. Jelepis enjoyed people, whether playing music, sharing children’s stories he wrote, or just sharing conversation.

His career in education  included teaching students from middle school to college to senior citizens.

“He was a very warm person, and people gravitated to him,” said Jan Jelepis, his wife of 61 years. “He had a nice, easy way of talking. He always wanted to know about the other people.”

He was a Navy radio operator for four years before pursuing a BA in music education and a master’s degree in guidance and administration at Case Western Reserve University.

He later earned a doctorate in education administration from the University of Akron.

He was a superintendent for school districts in Ohio, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

He later taught business at Drexel University and history part time at Immaculata after retiring in 1983.

Mr. Jelepis belonged to St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Media and was former choir director of St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church of Broomall.
