If Willy Wonka Dealt in Toys, Not Candy, His Shop Would Resemble This Doylestown Kid-Centric Business

Fabby-Do Boutique in Doylestown can best be described as a creative café. Its business model is to inspire imaginativeness in children ages two to teens, reports Jenn Frederick for FOX 29 Philadelphia.

The boutique is stocked nearly floor to ceiling with colorful crafts. Presorted kits enable kids to build or fashion something tangible and playable, rather than more paper fodder to tape to the refrigerator door. Parents can purchase kits to work on at home, or creations can take shape onsite.

Owner Robin Brackbill describes the variety: “We have stuff for boys and girls,” she says. “Anyone who wants to come in and be creative.”

The kits’ themes — Brackbill stocks more than 100 — run the gamut from princess to pirates. Specialized products will engage any wanna-be mermaid, fairy, rock star, jeweler, fashion designer, or even slime-creator.

The pandemic caused Brackbill to shift her business model. When safety measures curtailed foot traffic, she prepackaged arts and crafts for curbside pickups and online sales.

The revamped sales approach is, however, proving successful. “It’s actually made it even easier for us, now. And even more convenient,” she says. “You can take [kits] on your vacation. Or, you can come here and do it at Fabby-Do.”
