New COVID-19 Delaware County Cases Fell Below 100 for Tuesday, at 79

No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported for Tuesday, May 4, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department was reporting a total of 1,390 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 830 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New cases

There were 79 new cases reported Tuesday, May 4.  Total cases are 47,107

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 735, affecting 11.32 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,979 cases reported, or 8.41 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Testing negative

The county has had 235,785 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 88.29 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, May 4, are:

  • Under 10: 2,309 cases
  • 10 to 19: 5,650 cases
  • 20 to 29: 7,904 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,959 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.351 cases
  • 50 to 59: 7,130 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,457 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,708 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,634 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, May 4, there were 3,133 new cases of COVID-19 statewide,  Total cases now number 1,161,619.

The state is reporting 58 COVID-19 deaths Tuesday.  Total COVID-19 deaths are at 26,334.
