Delaware County is ahead of both Pennsylvania and national averages in the share of fully vaccinated residents, write Dan Keating, Naema Ahmed, Harry Stevens, Jessica Wolfrom, and Monica Ulmanu for The Washington Post.

The data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that so far, Delaware County has fully vaccinated 15.1 percent of its entire population. That is above the state average of 14.8 percent and the national average of 14.7 percent.

Delaware County is also ahead of neighboring Chester County which is currently at 14.6 percent.

In the adults 18 or older category, 19.3 percent of county residents are fully vaccinated. This is higher than the state average of 18.7 percent as well as the national average of 18.8 percent. It is also above Chester County’s 18.7 percent.

The only category in which Delaware County lags behind is for residents age 65 and older, where the county fully vaccinated 36.5 percent of people compared to the state’s 36.8 percent and the nation’s 45.9 percent. Chester County is also ahead with an average of 37.5 percent.
