14 New COVID-19 Deaths Reported Wednesday in Delaware County

There were 14 new COVID-19-related deaths reported for Wednesday, May 12, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department is reporting a total of 1,419 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 834 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

2 deaths were reported from Haverford, 2 from Upper Darby, 2 from Yeadon, 2 from Ridley, 1 from Chester, 1 from Nether Providence, 1 from Upper Providence, 1 from Rutledge, 1 from Tinicum, and 1 from Morton.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 48 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 118 new cases reported Wednesday, May 12. Total cases are 47,738.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 739, affecting 11.38 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 7,093 cases reported, or 8.55 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The county has had 239,821 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.38 percent recovery rate.
