Recent Week Saw a Drop in New COVID Cases But Still Second Highest in April

Weekly COVID cases dropped in Delaware County this past week compared to the previous week, but is still the second-highest number of new cases for April, according to a 4-week summary provided by the Chester County Health Department.

For the week of April 16 to April 22, the county had 1,148 positive cases this past week. It recorded 1,276 positive cases the week before.

There were 1,102 cases the week before that and 1,118 new cases reported the first week of April.

The health department also released its most recent 4-week summary regarding COVID-19 testing in Delaware County. The positive PCR test count has also decreased this past week compared to the previous week.

The most current week had a positive PCR test count of 1,360, compared to 1,404 the previous week, 1,228 the week before that, and 1,197 the first week of April.

No COVID-19 county or municipal statistics, including the number of new cases and COVID-19 deaths over the weekend, were available for Monday, April 26 from the Chester County Health Department.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 26, that there were 7,326 additional cases of COVID-19 statewide between Friday, April 23, the last date statistics were reported, and Monday, April 26. Current statewide total COVID-19 cases are 1,134,176

There were 50 additional COVID-19 deaths reported statewide between Friday, April 23, and Monday, April 26. Total deaths statewide are now 25,988.
