Weekly COVID Cases Still Increasing in Delaware County so Far in April

Researchers analyze COVID-19 cases in a state lab

Weekly COVID cases continue to rise in Delaware County, according to a 4-week summary provided by the Chester County Health Department.

In the most recent week, April 9 to April 15, the county had 1,249 positive cases, or 220.38 cases per 100,000 residents.

The rate of new weekly COVID cases has gone up in the past four weeks.

The health department also released its most recent 4-week summary regarding COVID-19 testing in Delaware County. The positive PCR test count has also increased each week for the past four weeks. The most current week had a positive PCR test count of 1,400, compared to 820 at the beginning of the four-week period.

No COVID-19 county or municipal statistics, including the number of new cases and COVID-19 deaths over the weekend were available for Monday, April 18 from the Chester County Health Department.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 18, that there were 8,875 additional cases of COVID-19 statewide between Friday, April 16, the last date statistics were reported, and Sunday, April 18. Current statewide total COVID-19 cases are 1,107,377.

There were 66 additional COVID-19 deaths reported statewide between Friday, April 1,6, and Sunday, April 18. Total deaths statewide are now 25,688.
