Over 5%: Some Delaware County Zip Codes See Big Jump in New COVID-19 Cases
There has been a substantial jump in the percentage of new COVID-19 cases showing up in Delaware County Zip codes, write Sean Adams and Megan Lavey-Heaton for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.
Several Zip codes had 5% or more increases, compared to two weeks ago when the highest percentage increases were at around 2%.
For the week prior to April 7, five Zip codes had increases of 5% or more.
Zip code 19061 (Boothwyn, Linwood, Marcus Hook, Trainer) had a 5.85% increase, with 77 new cases for a total of 1,393.
Zip code 19014 (Aston and Chester) had a 5.83% increase, with 82 new cases for a total of 1,489.
Zip code 19081 (Swarthmore) had an increase of 5.56%, with 27 new cases for a total of 513.
Zip code 19094 (Woodlyn) had a 5.41% increase, with 20 new cases for a total of 390.
Zip code 19029 (Lester and Essington) had a 5.18% increase, with 16 new cases for a total of 325.
Six Zip codes had 4% or higher increases. They are:
19319 (Cheyney) with a 4.76% increase
19317 (Chadds Ford) with a 4.46% increase
19342 (Glen Mills) with a 4.27% increase
19070 (Morton) with a 4.09% increase
19087 (Chesterbrook, St. Davids, Strafford, Radnor, Wayne) with a 4.01% increase
The Zip codes with the lowest increases went to:
19373 (Thornton) with a 1.06% increase
19079 (Sharon Hill) with a 1.26% increase
19064 (Springfield) with a 1.54% increase
19008 (Broomall) with a 1.55% increase
19022 (Crum Lynne, Chester, Eddystone) with a 1.73% increase
These latest numbers are compiled by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
