Health Department Reports 184 New COVID-19 cases in Delaware County between Wednesday and Thursday

No COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Thursday, April 8, according to the Chester County Health Department.

As of Thursday, the health department was reporting a total of 1,351 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 823 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported April 8:

The health department also reported there have been 184 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported for Thursday, April 8. Total cases, as of April 8, are 43112.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 680, affecting 10.47 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,384 cases reported, or 7.69 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 914 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The health department was reporting a 89.4 percent recovery rate as of April 8.

The county has had 222,574 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 89.72 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Thursday, April 8, are:

  • Under 10: 1,897 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.804 cases
  • 20 to 29: 7,215 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,319 cases
  • 40 to 49: 5,853 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,665 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,170 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,609 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,575 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 8, there were 4,746 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,059,044.

The state is reporting 42 additional COVID-19 deaths for Thursday, April 8. The statewide death toll is now 25,327.
