Flyers Promote Vaccines at Radnor High; Third of Delaware County Now Vaccinated

By

The Philadelphia Flyers have partnered with Penn Medicine to bring their “Take Your Shot” COVID-19 vaccine awareness campaign to Radnor High School, writes Anthony SanFilippo for crossingbroad.com.

Gritty and the Flyers organization will visit the Penn Medicine large-scale community vaccination site at Radnor High School Saturday, April 24, 3 to 5 p.m.

Clinic experts hope to vaccinate 3,000 people at the site over two days, April 24 and 25.

The New York Times is reporting 27% of Delaware County residents are now fully vaccinated, 63% of those over 65, as reported at patch.com.

Meanwhile, thousands of Moderna and Pfizer doses pour into Delaware County.

The Flyers are the first team in the NHL, and maybe the first in any sport, to create a public service announcement and an awareness campaign encouraging COVID-19 vaccines.

Besides Penn Medicine, the Flyers have partnered with the Black Doctors COVID Consortium to reach Black communities and support a vaccination site at the Liacouras Center.

It’s providing financial support, information to fans on its website and television, radio and social media ads.

“It’s on all of us to do our part to end this pandemic, so we’re encouraging all of our fans to take your shot,” said Flyers coach Alain Vigneault.
