Only 79 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Tuesday in Delaware County With 1 COVID-19-Related Death

One additional COVID-19-related death from Nether Providence was reported in Delaware County for Tuesday, March 2.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,277 deaths for the county.

Of those, 803 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were only 79 new COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported Tuesday, March 2, taking the county below daily caseloads that have been above 100 in recent days. Total cases are 38,199.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,086, or 9.4 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,735 cases reported, or 6.9 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 829 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 206,361 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.09 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, March 2, are:

  • Under 10: 1,517 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,958 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,420 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,602 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,190 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,948 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,676 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,417 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,468 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 2, that there were 2,564 new cases of COVID-19. Total cases are now 985,834.

 There were 74 additional COVID-19 deaths reported Tuesday, March 2 for a new total of 24,100.
