Delaware County Update From Friday Shows 13 More COVID-19 Deaths

Thirteen additional COVID-19 deaths have been reported as of Tuesday, Feb. 9 in Delaware County since statistics were last available Friday, Feb. 5.

The COVID-19 death toll in Delaware County stands at 1,213 as of Tuesday.

Of total deaths reported, 782 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

Three deaths were reported in Upper Darby, 1 death was reported in Marple, 1 in Haverford, 1 in Chester, 1 in Concord, 1 in Radnor, 1 in Newtown, 1 in Aston, 1 in Collingdale, 1 in Chester Township, 1 in Trainer

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department reported 522 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County as of Tuesday, Feb. 9, since statistics were last reported Friday, Feb. 5, with total cases now at 35,590.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,044, or 9.08 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,402 cases reported, or 6.51 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 791 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 197,865 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 86.21 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, Feb. 9, are:

  • Under 10: 1,365 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,614cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,098 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,255 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,887 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,631 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,457 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,278 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,362 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Feb. 9 that there were 15,239 COVID-19 cases reported statewide between Friday, Feb. 5 and Tuesday, Feb. 9. Total cases are now at 876,913.

 There were 381 additional deaths between Feb. 5 and Feb. 9. for a new total of 22,620.
