New COVID-19 Deaths Down in Delaware County and PA, 305 New County Cases Over Weekend

No COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Monday, March 22.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,322 fatalities.

Of those, 811 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 305 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported between Friday, March 19 and Monday, March 22. Total cases are now 40,405

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,119, or 9.73 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 6,062 cases reported, or 7.30 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 871cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 214,366 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.3 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Monday, March 22, are:

  • Under 10: 1,659 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.333 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,776 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,891 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,471 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,303 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,924 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,520 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,523 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 22, there were 1,578 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 988,43.

The state is reporting only 1 additional COVID-19 death for Monday, March 22. Statewide death toll is now 24,789.
