On Political Sign Overload? Delaware County Has a Way to Get Rid of Them

Delaware County is willing to recycle those political lawn signs that went from political messaging to clutter.

Whether your candidate won or lost, the election is over. So those 50 political signs blanketing your lawn can go.

But where?

Delaware County officials can tell you just what to do with those signs, writes Justin Udo for KYW Newsradio.

The county is offering a campaign sign recycling program for two days this weekend.

Starting today, voters can take their signs to Rose Tree Park near Media, where the county will collect them, free of charge.

The collection starts Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM and continues Saturday, 9 AM to 2 PM.

“This event allows members of the community, party leaders — really, anybody to come out with their campaign signs for a meaningful way to recycle,” said Rebecca Yurkovich, Delco’s interim chief sustainability officer.

“The same way that people plan their route to get out and vote — we want to see them do the same thing each year for this event as well.”

This is the county’s first post-presidential recycling event, said Yurkovich.

“They are all historically going to incineration, and that’s not something that made a whole lot of sense to us,” she said.
