Delaware County in Top 10 Statewide for Small Business Presence

Delaware County has a strong small business presence, making a top 10 list in Pennsylvania.

Delaware County was in the top 10 for places in Pennsylvania with the most prominent small business presence, reports SmartAsset.

Information was gathered from IRS data, measuring the percentage of residents in each county that depend on small business income. 

Delaware County came in 10th on the list. According to the statistics, small business IRS returns accounted for 21.31 percent of federal, state, and local returns filed in the county.

Small businesses generated 8.89 percent of the county’s income. The median income tax paid by small businesses was $9,352.

Chester County came in first in the state for small business presence, with small business tax returns making up 24.09 percent of all returns. Its small business income represented 9.82 percent of the county’s, and its businesses paid $9,352 in income tax.

Montgomery County was second, with small business returns accounting for 23.45 percent of tax returns. Its small businesses generated 9.33 percent of the county’s income, and small businesses there paid $9,912.

Bucks County was third in Pennsylvania, with tax returns from small businesses accounting for 22.70 percent of all returns. Small businesses generated 9.92 percent of the county’s income, and those businesses also paid a median income tax of $9,912.
