Between Friday and Monday, Delaware County Saw 422 New COVID-19 Cases

One additional COVID-19-related death from Middletown was reported in Delaware County for Monday, March 29.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,339 COVID-19 fatalities in the county.

Of those, 821 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 422 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported between Friday, March 26 and Monday, March 29. Total cases are now 41,364

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 641, affecting 9.91 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 6,175 cases reported, or 7.44 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 889 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 217,561  people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.92 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Monday, March 29, are:

  • Under 10: 1,741 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.505 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,941 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 6,029 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,617 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,427 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,002 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,554 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,542 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 29, there were 10,101 new cases of COVID-19 statewide between Friday, March 26 and Monday, March 29.  Total cases now number 1,015,268.

The state is reporting 62 additional COVID-19 deaths between Friday, March 26 and Monday, March 29. Statewide death toll is now 25,015.
