Hope, a 4-month-old combination Beagle, American foxhound, chow chow, and golden retriever represented the Providence Animal Center in Media at this year’s 17th  Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet, writes Grace Dickinson for  The Philadelphia Inquirer.

It airs this Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Bowl is a pregame Super Bowl tradition. The three-hour even features 70 puppies from shelters and rescue centers across the Northeast.

Hope is one of six from the Philadelphia area. Born at the center, her mom, Granny, came there from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky.

One of the aims of the Puppy Bowl is find homes for the shelter pets. Hope was quickly adopted.

This year pits “Team Ruff” and “Team Fluff” against each other. A touchdown is scored anytime a puppy drags an on-field chew toy across either end zone. Hope is playing for Team Ruff.

Hope loves most dogs which worked against her at the Puppy Bowl.

“She had zero interest in taking the toys and making a touchdown,” says Providence’s Justina Calgiano, director of advancement and public relations. “She just wanted to be around the other dogs.”
