Rabbits from Broomall Rescue to Be Cheerleaders at This Year’s Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet

By

Rabbits from Luv-N-Bunns in Broomall are being drafted as cheerleaders this Sunday for Puppy Bowl XIII on the popular television channel Animal Planet, writes Jerry Gaul for PhillyVoice.

The annual contest sees adoptable puppies from shelters nationwide face off as Team Ruff and Team Fluff to compete for the Lombarky Trophy. This year, the competition is especially tough as it will feature 78 puppies from 34 animal rescues nationwide.

For the always popular halftime show, there will be a performance by rescued cats, while throughout the competition, bunnies from Luv-N-Bunns and guinea pigs from Helping All Little Things in Burlington County, N.J., will act as cheerleaders for the two teams.

To make sure that everything goes without a hitch, the game with be officiated by Pennsylvania’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, who will also conduct the coin toss.  Broomall’s Luv-N-Bunns rescues abandoned rabbits from high-kill shelters and hoarding situations. It then provides them with care until a home can be found for them. The nonprofit also provides free education on looking after rabbits.

Puppy Bowl XIII will air on Animal Planet on Sunday at 3 PM.
