Grammy’s Gifts Honors Late Wife With Gifts to Women Treated for Cancer

Leo Botta looks at a picture of his late wife, Patricia "Tricia" Bott, who started the idea for Grammy's Gifts.

Leo Botta of Delaware County saw the struggles his late wife Patricia “Tricia” Botta went through being treated for breast cancer, so he’s providing gifts to women going through the same thing in her honor, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6abc.

Tricia Botta was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. While undergoing chemotherapy, she was blessed with friends and family giving her moral and physical support.

But she saw other treatment patients without basic amenities like blankets or hats to cover bare heads in winter.

Tricia had planned to help others when she finished treatment but passed away in 2018.

Leo is completing her mission with Grammy’s Gifts.

“I think if she had survived, she would have been doing this along with me,” said Botta.

Grammy is the nickname Tricia’s grandkids and great-grandkids gave her.

With Grammy’s Gifts, Botta delivers gift bags to hospitals with small pick-me-ups for women undergoing cancer treatments. More than 600 bags have been delivered.

A typical bag includes snacks, chapstick, mints, socks, eyebrow tattoos, and crocheted hats made by Tricia’s friends.

“Cancer can be devastating physically; treatment days are usually pretty rough. This gives them a little bit of happiness…while they’re sitting in the chemo chair,” said Botta.
