Aldan resident Charisse McGill had a big success when she launched her French Toast Bites and Lokal Artisan Foods in 2018. Now McGill will be the first black female in Pennsylvania to have her own beer, modeled after the unique flavors of her snack food, writes Molly Given for philly.metro.us.

McGill has been working with the Doylestown Brewing Company to create French Toast Bites ale.

GoPuff made the beer available through their app and platform on Oct. 30.

Described as “a sweet, smooth and toasted dessert brew,” French Toast Bites Ale will be sold in 16-ounce cans in four packs and through a limited keg run with distributor Muller, Inc.

“I have long been curious about the beer business as I work with so many talented brewers and bars in my hospitality day to day life,” McGill stated in a release.

The 38-year-old first introduced French Toast Bites at a holiday market in Dilworth Park. Its popularity allowed her to expand to other venues and create a French Toast spice blend, then, in partnership with Doylestown Brewing, an ale.
