If you’re looking to buy some history, you might find it at The Philadelphia Print Shop, recently opened in Wayne, writes Richard Ilgenfritz for mainlinemedianews.com.

The store is a treasure trove of maps, prints, views, sea charts, rare books, landscapes and more.

While new to Wayne, the store originally opened 38 years ago in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia.

It closed last December but was purchased in August by David Mackey and reopened at  209 West Lancaster Ave. in Wayne, with help from Quincy Williams and Jane Toczek, who collectively worked at the store for 50 years.

“To me, Wayne is to the Main Line what Chestnut Hill is to Philadelphia,” Mackey said during a recent ribbon cutting ceremony.

Wayne has a walkable downtown and its community has a deep interest in history.

Mackey also has an online business, Malvern Maps at www.Malvernmaps.com, focusing on historic maps of the Main Line and Chester County.

He got into map collecting about 20 years ago when he found an old map of Berwyn at the Devon Horse Show.

Mackey is a lifelong resident of the Main Line and a commercial real estate development professional.
