Despite Lower Numbers Wednesday, COVID-19 Cases Jumped Up to 94 for Thursday in Delaware County

New cases of COVID-19 increased by 94 for Thursday, Oct. 22, erasing gains made with a lower number of 36 cases reported the day before, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Total cases for Delaware County now stand at 12,864.

Additionally, two more Delaware County residents lost their lives to COVID-19, in Middletown and Radnor, with total deaths now recorded at 808.

Of those, 618 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus.

Two  new cases were reported in the borough for Thursday.  It has 559 cases, affecting 4.87 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,955, affecting 2.36 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Wednesday, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 316 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 125, 351 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 81.94 percent recovery rate.

  • 10 to 19: 1,045 cases (up 13)
  • 20 to 29: 2,389 cases (up 20)
  • 30 to 39: 1,759 cases (up 13)
  • 40 to 49: 1,677 cases (up 18)
  • 50 to 59: 1,958 cases (up 10)
  • 60 to 69: 1,543cases (up 10)
  • 70 to 79: 920 cases (up 5)
  • 80 and over: 1,320 cases (up 2)

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 22, that there were 2,063 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Wednesday, Oct. 21, bringing the statewide total to 188,360.

There were 30 new deaths reported statewide as of
Thursday, Oct. 22 since these statistics were last reported Wednesday, with total deaths listed at 8,592.
