55 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported Monday in Delaware County, 1 Death Reported

There were 55 new cases of COVID-19 reported Monday, Oct. 5 for Delaware County since cases were last reported Sunday. Total number of cases is now 11,771 according to the Chester County Health Department.

One resident from Middletown lost their life to COVID-19. Total county deaths are now at 797.

Of those, 615 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 546 cases, affecting 4.76 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,808, affecting 2.18 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Friday, Oct. 2, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 298 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 111, 323 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 84.56 percent recovery rate.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 5, that there were 672 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Sunday, bringing the statewide total to 164,207.

There were 11 new deaths reported statewide as of
Monday, Oct. 5 since these statistics were last reported Sunday, with total deaths listed at.8,227.
