A new Boston Market Aston restaurant is opening by Oct. 31 as part of a national expansion, writes Laura Smythe for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The store at 4442 Pennell Road will join new stores in Philadelphia, Gilbertsville, West Lawn and Oxford.

Boston Market President Randy Miller  described Greater Philadelphia as a number one market for growth. The hope is to increase the number of stores by 50 percent.

About 30 to 35 employees will be hired for each new store location.

Boston Market is known for its rotisserie chicken and family meals, also offering ribs, sandwiches, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese.

It took an initial loss from the pandemic March to early May but is now seeing growing demand, much of it from home delivery.

About 50 percent of stores temporarily closed from the pandemic have now reopened.

The expansion of stores is triggered by recent access to capital, available from Boston Market’s new owner, Engage Brands LLC.

“That’s really what changed, as well as opportunities on real estate are out there, so with capital and the desire to grow and the opportunities being available, the timing is OK for us to do that,” Miller added.
